PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION

JOB TITLE AND BAND: Biomedical Scientist Band 6

DEPARTMENT / DIRECTORATE: Haematology / Blood Transfusion Laboratory

/ Acute Directorate

LOCATION: WHSCT Laboratories

You must clearly demonstrate on your application form how you meet the desirable criteria.

Proof of qualifications and/or professional registration will be required if an offer of employment is made - if you are unable to provide this, the offer may be withdrawn

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Qualifications/ Registration

Band 6 applicants

Must be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)

as a Biomedical Scientist AND have completed IBMS Specialist

Diploma (or equivalent) in relevant discipline AND have at least 1 year's

post HCPC registration experience in the relevant discipline.

OR

Have been employed as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) in

3 of the last 6 years, working in the relevant discipline. Applicant must

have maintained HCPC registration and appear on the register.

Other

Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post

Participate in the full provision of a 24 hour service

(multidisciplinary within Southern Sector - were applicable)

Willingness to travel between sites as and when required
