Principal Electrical Design Engineer - Dundalk (Hybrid)
We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing team delivering innovative low-carbon and decarbonisation solutions across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.
This is a key leadership opportunity for a senior-level engineer with strong M&E / Building Services Electrical Design experience, looking to play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge, sustainable energy projects.
The Role
Based in Dundalk, you will lead the electrical design function across a range of commercial and public sector projects, from concept through to delivery.
You will provide technical leadership, manage design outputs, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, compliant, and innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems across multiple projects
- Develop detailed designs including power distribution, control systems, and circuit design
- Oversee project scope, timelines, and technical delivery
- Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations
- Act as the technical authority for complex electrical challenges
- Collaborate with mechanical, BIM, and project teams for integrated design solutions
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
- Mentor and support junior engineers
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in Electrical Design within M&E / Building Services
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards) preferred
- Strong experience with LV, HV, and ELV systems
- Knowledge of UK & European standards and regulations
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g. Amtech or similar)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Desirable Experience
- Solar PV systems, inverters, and renewable technologies
- Battery storage and energy efficiency solutions
- Experience with HV switchgear, transformers, and large-scale systems (>2MW)
- BIM tools such as AutoCAD and Revit
- Experience with grid connection applications (G99 / DNO)

- €80,000 - €90,000 (depending on experience)

Working Pattern
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am - 3:00pm
- Hybrid working available (1-2 days from home once established in the role)
