The Forensic Accountant will form part of an investigative team, under Garda management, and will provide the financial and forensic accounting expertise necessary to carry out and complete economic crime investigations. Candidates will be required to prepare reports and may be required to provide oral evidence in criminal judicial proceedings. The candidate should be highly organised, methodical and skilled in the area of Forensic Accounting as their reports may be subject to challenge in the Courts.

The Role

The Role of the Forensic Accountant will include:

  • Providing professional accounting advice with regard to fraud issues and investigations.
  • Examining accounts, relevant documentation, computer records and other financial information and identifying, where applicable, malpractice and fraud.
  • Providing the professional experience and expertise to Garda investigative teams.
  • Displaying flexibility and adaptability in the performance and development of the role.
  • To understand and be informed of advances in computer technology and its role in, and implications for fraud investigations.
  • Preparing and submitting detailed reports on fraud and economic crime cases.
  • Providing witness statements in relation to their investigative work and give evidence in Court.
  • The appointee, may, on occasion be required to undertake domestic travel
