Activity Coordinator

Work Location Rathfarnham, Dublin 16

Contract Type Permanent, full-time (39 hours per week) - fully onsite role.

Reports to Director of Nursing

THE ROLE!

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our client's team in South Dublin. The client is a healthcare provider provides a spectrum of neuropsychiatric services to adults with a range of serious and enduring mental health needs such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's Diseases, as well as individuals with early onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Activity Coordinator to play an integral role in a friendly, dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team and make a significant contribution in the area of rehabilitation.

Key Duties:

  • To develop a professional rapport with residents and to ensure that they are greeted and welcomed to participate in activities that are appropriate to them.
  • To obtain information from residents and/or their families regarding their interests and skills.
  • To plan activities programmes collaboratively with individual patients.
  • To organize, supervise, and implement therapeutic and recreational programmes for the patients in conjunction with activity team colleagues.
  • To plan, supervise, and accompany patients on appropriate outings.
  • To engage patients in both group and individual activities as deemed appropriate.
  • To observe general behaviour, ability, and response from residents.
  • To record observations in the in the resident's clinical notes and communicate it to the ward nursing staff and wider MDT team.
  • To take part in the audit process in relation to recreational and activity programmes in line with regulation requirements of the Mental Health Commission.
  • To maintain competency and practice in attendance at and completion of required training and education.

Essential Criteria:

  • QQI Level 5 (8 modules) in healthcare or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as an Activities Coordinator, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Healthcare Assistant.
  • Previous experience in a mental health setting is an advantage.
  • Category B Full Driving License is desirable.
