Job Title

Engineering Operative (EO)

Job Purpose

To support the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the depot by carrying out vehicle servicing, cleaning, shunting, and general depot duties. The role requires flexibility and a proactive approach to maintaining fleet readiness and depot standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fuel buses as required.
  • Check and maintain vehicle oil and water levels.
  • Carry out vehicle shunting operations safely within the depot.
  • Wash, clean, and prepare buses to company standards.
  • Undertake minor maintenance tasks under the direction of the Foreman or Team Leader.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the garage and depot environment.
  • Assist with vehicle and parts deliveries and collections.
  • Operate a forklift truck where authorised and trained.
  • Provide shift cover when required to support operational needs.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role and level of competence.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Full Category D Driving Licence (essential).
  • Previous experience within a transport, engineering, garage, or depot environment preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good awareness of health and safety procedures.
  • Reliable, flexible, and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to work shifts, including evenings and weekends where required.
  • Forklift truck experience or certification desirable.
