Job Title: Phlebotomist (Permanent Part-Time)
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Job Type: Part-Time, Permanent (17.5 hous per week)


Job Overview

A well-established healthcare provider in Dublin is seeking a Part-Time Phlebotomist to join its Phlebotomy Department on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for someone experienced in phlebotomy who is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a busy clinical environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine blood draws and sample collection according to hospital procedures

  • Ensure accurate patient identification and proper labelling of samples

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and confidentiality

  • Support quality management initiatives and participate in audits

  • Assist in maintaining stock levels and documentation

  • Collaborate with senior staff to improve departmental practices

  • Follow health and safety regulations and contribute to a safe working environment

  • Participate in ongoing training and service improvement efforts


Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Hold a QQI Level 6 (or higher) qualification in Phlebotomy

  • Hold a recognised Certificate in Phlebotomy (e.g., DIT, DCU, or NASC)

  • Be registered as a nurse or midwife with the NMBI

  • OR have at least 2 years' experience as a phlebotomist in an acute hospital setting*

*Candidates without a formal qualification must be willing to complete one within 12 months of starting the role.

Other Requirements:

  • Certification in phlebotomy and cannulation from an accredited organisation

  • Strong clinical and administrative competence


Desirable Experience

  • Familiarity with ISO15189 standards

  • Experience using the iLab Laboratory Information System
