As the Fleet Technical Supervisor, you will report directly to the Fleet Technical Manager and will be entrusted with overseeing all technical elements of the fleet. This position requires you to lead and mentor a skilled technical team, playing a crucial part in guaranteeing the efficient and safe functioning of the fleet, a task that is both intricate and multifaceted.

Your main routine responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a Technical Team: You will guide and motivate a dedicated technical team in executing the Fleet Management business plan, ensuring that team objectives align with the overall goals of the organisation.
  • Managing Contracts: You will oversee multiple contracts of various aspects of fleet maintenance, including tyre management, service, repair, and general upkeep. This includes monitoring performance and ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
  • Conducting Inspections: Regular inspections of fleet vehicles will fall under your purview, where you will identify and report on mechanical defects to maintain operational integrity.
  • Providing Technical Insights: You will be responsible for generating comprehensive technical reports that will inform management decisions, ensuring they have the necessary data to make informed choices regarding fleet operations.

Candidates must on or before the closing date of this competition:


A. Hold a qualification at a minimum of level 7 or equivalent on the National Framework of Qualifications in a relevant discipline, e.g. Transport Operations and Technology, Transport Logistics, Transport Management, Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
OR
B. Senior trade certificate/National Craft certificate in a motor trade discipline

Candidates must also demonstrate experience of:

  • 5 years' minimum experience in a fleet management operation or automotive industry management role including experience of leadership abilities with experience in supporting team performance and guiding a team.
  • Technical training and maintaining a large diverse vehicle fleet.
  • Experience working with electric and hybrid vehicles
