About the Role

We are recruiting a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at Newry, Mourne and Down District Council facilities. This role is ideal for individuals with strong communication skills and a passion for providing excellent customer service. You will be the first point of contact for visitors, handling inquiries, processing payments, and performing a range of administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Front Desk Operations - Welcome visitors and provide a professional and friendly service.
  • Switchboard Management - Operate a busy switchboard, directing calls efficiently and handling general queries.
  • Customer Service - Assist members of the public with enquiries, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Administrative Support - Perform a range of office tasks including typing, filing, faxing, photocopying, and data entry.
  • Microsoft Office Use - Utilise Word, Excel, and Outlook for day-to-day administrative tasks.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a receptionist, cashier, or customer service role (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to handle cash transactions with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Professional and friendly approach to customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
