About the Role
We are recruiting an Events coordinator to join our team at Newry, Mourne and Down District Council facilities. This role is ideal for individuals with strong communication skills and an ability to effectively deliver the annual Programme of Tourism Events and Festivals across the district focusing on increasing visitor numbers and tourism revenue, to ensure effective timely delivery of all tourism events within budget and to plan.
Key Responsibilities
- To undertake the development, organisation and promotion of the Programme of Tourism Events and Festivals across the district.
- Provide support to the Events Supervisor in the coordination, implementation and delivery of the events programme, being onsite for delivery of flagship events and assisting with enquiries from member of the public, statutory agencies, contractors and Council officials. - Provide assistance to the Events Supervisor in the implementation and administration of the events programme including grant/sponsorship applications and grant claims.
- Undertake a range of administrative duties relating to the implementation of the events programme and tourism events development strategies and plans, as required.
- Assist in the procurement of relevant services/suppliers/contractors in line with Council procurement policy and guidelines to support delivery of Council events. Ensure that invoices, quotations and other relevant documentation are collated, purchase orders raised and documentation retained in accordance with Council procedures or funding requirements.
- Track and monitor event expenditure against event plans and budget, providing regular updates to the events supervisor on budget spend and variances.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in coordinating, implementing and delivering a programme of tourism events (preferred but not essential).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Experience in assisting with Grant Claims.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
- Experience of processing accounts, invoices and raising purchasing orders
