Job Title: Chemotherapy Practice Facilitator
Department: Cancer Services
Reports to: Clinical Nurse Manager 3 Cancer Services
Overall Purpose of Job
The Chemotherapy Practice Facilitator is responsible for providing professional nursing care in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients undergoing chemotherapy, ensuring exceptional service in an environment where quality, respect, and compassion are prioritized. The role combines clinical leadership, education, and management responsibilities to enhance oncology services.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
1. Clinical
- Provide expert clinical practice and leadership in oncology care.
- Exercise clinical supervision to enhance the quality of oncology services.
- Demonstrate critical thinking in patient care and treatment plans.
- Offer clinical leadership to nursing and allied health staff.
- Serve as a clinical resource for up-to-date information on chemotherapy and related treatments.
2. Education
- Act as a Clinical Teacher and Assessor within the oncology service.
- Develop, implement, and roll out a Chemotherapy Training Program for staff.
- Critique and evaluate evidence-based literature and protocols for clinical practice.
- Participate in multidisciplinary initiatives and ensure the continuous professional development of nursing staff.
- Assess and monitor the educational needs of nursing staff, ensuring access to mandatory training and professional development opportunities.
- Facilitate the development of action plans based on individual staff performance and professional goals.
- Oversee nursing practices to ensure competency in chemotherapy administration and oncology nursing practices.
3. Management
- Ensure effective communication within the team and provide feedback as required.
- Utilize project management skills for implementing new programs and changes in practice.
- Demonstrate human resource management skills, including staff development and performance evaluation.
- Ensure that standards, protocols, and procedures are communicated effectively within the multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with management to support the development and support of nursing practice.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all healthcare staff and departments.
4. Personal and Professional Development
- Keep up-to-date with changes in nursing practices and oncology care standards.
- Maintain and enhance personal competency related to all aspects of the role.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and education to ensure best practices in oncology nursing.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- NMBI Registered General Nurse license.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (essential).
- Oncology-related Post Graduate qualification (desirable).
Experience
- Minimum of five years' recent post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Recent experience in chemotherapy administration (minimum of 3 years).
- Previous experience in a teaching, mentorship, or preceptorship role is desirable.
Job-Specific Competencies and Knowledge
- Proven ability in clinical and professional management.
- Experience in mentorship, preceptorship, and teaching in a clinical environment.
- Strong commitment to nursing education, both pre- and post-registration.
- Basic IT skills and experience with presentation tools.
- Continuing professional development and evidence of maintaining current clinical competencies.
