Job Title: Staff Nurse - Interventional Radiology Unit
Location: Private Hospital, Dublin

Job Summary:
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Radiology Department, managing pre-, intra-, and post-procedure care for in-patients and out-patients. Procedures include angiograms, biopsies, drainages, line insertions, embolisations, and cardiac imaging. The role involves circulating and scrubbing for interventional procedures, administering conscious sedation, ensuring radiation safety, managing pain and IV drug administration, and maintaining high standards of documentation and patient discharge protocols.

Qualifications:
Each candidate must:

  • Be registered in the general division with NMBI.
  • Have at least 3 years of post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
  • Show interest in procedural nursing and demonstrate strong clinical skills, interpersonal communication, and IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Fluency in English is required.

Desirable Skills:

  • Specialization in radiology nursing or relevant experience in a specialized area.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement, risk management, and patient advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Duties:
  • Provide comprehensive patient assessment and care planning, implementing quality nursing interventions, and evaluating outcomes.
  • Ensure patient safety through effective pain, sedation, and IV management using aseptic techniques.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and professional codes of conduct.
  • Support the discharge process, ensuring patients and families are well-informed.
Professional Practice:
  • Administer medications in line with hospital policy and NMBI standards.
  • Participate in training for new staff and student nurses.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with nursing best practices.
Teamwork & Collaboration:
  • Work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, communicating patient care plans and updates.
  • Document patient care accurately, in compliance with GDPR and hospital policies.
  • Coordinate care in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Quality & Safety:
  • Adhere to infection control measures, contribute to safety audits, and actively engage with accreditation initiatives.
  • Ensure safe patient identification, effective communication, and prevention of healthcare-associated infections in line with International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG).

Contract Terms:

  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (shifts between 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. as needed).
  • Annual leave and sick leave in line with hospital policy.
  • A probationary period applies.
