The role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of Ireland's only JCI accredited private acute hospitals based in Dublin.

As the Staff Nurse in the Cath Lab, you will be professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing and will work closely with the CNM and Multidisciplinary team, providing exceptional nursing care to patients.

We are interested in receiving applications from qualified Staff Nurses in the areas of working in Cath Lab which will focus on the pre, intra and post operative procedure care following cardiac angiogram & PCI and other cardiac interventions of patients.

Essential Criteria:

  • Be registered on the general division of the register of nurses maintained by the NMBI.
  • Have at least 2-3 years post registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
  • Have an interest in procedural nursing and in learning and developing new skills.
  • Have proven clinical and professional ability.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have good IT skills, with ability to use Microsoft packages e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.
  • Have ability to work with a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of nursing care.
  • Have a high capacity for responsibility and individual initiative.
  • Have an interest in quality initiation for the Nursing Service.

Key Duties:

  • Co-ordination of the running list on a day-to-day basis.
  • Pre, intra and post procedure care following cardiac angiogram & PCI and other cardiac interventions.
  • Provides appropriate & timely education to patients & their family.
  • Documentation admission process and appropriate, timely updating of documentation during patient stay
  • Performs peripheral intravenous cannulation
  • Management of peripheral intravenous cannula.
  • Accurate assessment, management and re-assessment of the "at risk" patient
  • Accurate assessment, management and re-assessment of a patient with chest pain
  • Aseptic Set up of trolleys for various cardiac interventions
  • Scrub and assist cardiac consultants with various procedures
  • Correct use of Aldrete and Ramsay score
  • Management of Drug Administration
  • Management of IV Drug Administration using Aseptic Non-Touch Technique
  • Transportation of the critically ill patient within SVHG
  • Transportation of the critically ill patient to other hospital
  • Management and handover of the inpatient transfer process
  • Ensure adequate stock of relevant items required
  • Management and co-ordination of MDT for acute admissions
  • Correctly manages patients who require transmission-based precautions
  • Training and education of staff
  • ACLS trained
  • Care of the patient on inotropic support
  • Management of Haemostasis
  • Assessment, care, management and removal of venous sheaths
  • Management of patient on a balloon pump
  • Care practices in relation to radiation safety
  • Proficient in the use of CVIS
