Post Title: Medical Oncology Research Nurse (1.0 FTE)
Location: Dublin
Overall Purpose of the Role:
The Medical Oncology Research Nurse position was established to support the growing Medical Oncology research portfolio. This role involves the coordination of clinical trials within the Department of Medical Oncology. The successful candidate will play an integral part in a dynamic, innovative, and rapidly expanding research environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively assist in the operational management of clinical research projects, ensuring compliance with best practice guidelines and good clinical practice.
- Coordinate quarterly specialty-specific research meetings, acting as secretariat for research group meetings.
- Work in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and research protocols for clinical research activities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity in all clinical trial/research activities, in compliance with relevant Data Protection and Health Research Regulations.
- Maintain and manage clinical research documentation, including site files, case record forms, monitoring arrangements, data correction, and data collection.
- Prepare ethical and regulatory procedures for clinical research studies, including submissions and query resolutions, with support from sponsor companies.
- Contribute to research protocol reviews and site study feasibility reports.
- Attend investigator meetings related to assigned studies.
- Manage all study-related correspondence in a timely manner.
- Ensure patients are fully informed about the details of clinical trials/research projects before recruitment.
- Screen patients for suitability in research studies.
- Ensure all studies meet the highest standards, complying with ICH-GCP, HPRA/EU Directive requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the study team.
Qualifications:
- Honours degree in Nursing.
- Postgraduate qualification in Cancer Care/Chemotherapy.
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Experience:
Essential:
- A minimum of four years' clinical experience in Medical Oncology.
- Experience with Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (desirable).
- At least two years of experience in oncology/related clinical research.
