Dental Team Leader
Location: BSO, 2 Franklin Street
Hours: Full-Time (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm)
Pay Rate: £15.88 per hour
MAIN DUTIES
The postholder will support and assist the FPS Service Manager, who is responsible for the overall management of one of the FPS Payments functions. The post holder will manage a Payments Team, on a daily basis, with responsibility for ensuring all documentation is processed accurately and promptly in accordance with the BSO's Standing Financial Instructions and department procedures.
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsibility for scheduling workload and providing direction on a day-to-day basis to the Payments Department. Ensuring that resources are available and arrangements are in place for staff and the department to meet directorate and organisational deadlines and comply with Standing Financial Instructions.
- Utilise IT based solutions for the management and control of the workload of the department, producing routine and ad hoc reports as required.
- Lead in the development of consistent and efficient working practices across the teams involved in the payments process, ensuring that the most effective and efficient payments processes are in place across all teams.
- Review processing throughput with FPS Service Manager weekly to ensure that backlogs do not build up and that contractors are paid promptly, accurately according to the relevant payment regulations and the BSO Standing Financial Instructions.
- Ensure controls are in place to eliminate fraudulent and unauthorised payments.
- Review list of any outstanding payments/approvals weekly with staff to ensure that payments are being monitored and followed up in accordance with the relevant procedures.
- Monitor the expenditure of payments department and other related expenditure, ensuring monitoring of the entitlement of contractors to payments
- Support the FPS Service Manager in developing and implementing payment monitoring mechanisms for contractors.
- Implement robust payment review processes with contractors, though the use of activity, benchmarking data and health care governance information.
- Analyse and interpret relevant payments data for presentation to stakeholders (internal and external).
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
1a) Relevant University degree/professional qualification and have worked for at least two years in a managerial capacity within a Finance / Payments role
OR
1b) Have worked for four years in a managerial capacity with experience of working in a Finance / Payments department
2) Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by The Organisation which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.
