OSS Sweeper Driver / Labourer

Hours: Full-time
Pay: £13.47 per hour / £13.47 per hour plus applicable enhancements

Staffline Recruitment Ireland is recruiting Sweeper Drivers / Labourers to support Belfast City Council within its Open Spaces and Streetscene service.

This is a hands-on role combining driving, outdoor cleaning and general labouring duties. Day and enhanced-rate shift opportunities are available.

The Role

You will be responsible for driving and operating allocated vehicles while supporting street cleansing and general environmental services.

Duties will include:

• Driving and safely operating allocated vehicles
• Manual and mechanical sweeping of roads, footpaths, alleyways, parks and public areas
• Emptying litter bins and collecting waste
• Assisting with general labouring, lifting, sweeping and cleaning duties
• Operating equipment including bin lifts, tail lifts and other associated equipment
• Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting defects
• Carrying out basic vehicle and sweeper cleaning and maintenance
• Following designated routes and work schedules
• Completing required driving and vehicle records
• Dealing professionally with members of the public
• Following all health and safety procedures and safe systems of work

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

• Full current C1+E driving licence
• Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
• Previous experience driving in a commercial environment
• Experience carrying out outdoor cleaning or similar practical duties
• Experience dealing with members of the public
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• An understanding of workplace health and safety

Successful candidates may be required to complete and pass a driving assessment before appointment.
