Park Operative

Location: Belfast

Hours: Full-time
Pay: £14.35 per hour

Staffline Recruitment Ireland is recruiting Parks Operatives to support Belfast City Council within its Open Spaces and Streetscene service.

This is a practical outdoor role involving grounds maintenance, gardening, driving and general upkeep of parks and public spaces.

The Role

Duties will include:

• Grass cutting, mowing, edging and hedge trimming
• Pruning, planting and general gardening duties
• Sweeping, hoeing, raking and litter collection
• Maintaining parks, green spaces and public areas
• Operating ride-on mowers, tractors, trailers and other equipment
• Driving allocated vehicles and trailers
• Loading and unloading tools, equipment, plants and materials
• Carrying out basic maintenance and cleaning of vehicles, mowers and gardening equipment
• Assisting with the upkeep of sports areas, playgrounds and park furniture
• Supporting community gardens, events and other parks activities
• Completing daily vehicle and work records
• Following all health and safety procedures

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

• At least one year's relevant gardening or horticultural experience
• Full current C1+E driving licence
• Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
• Experience using gardening tools and equipment
• Ability to carry out physically demanding outdoor work
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Good awareness of health and safety
