Care Home Cook (Part-Time)

Belfast | 28.5 Hours per Week | 3 Days Per Week

Staffline Recruitment Ireland is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Care Home Cook to join a welcoming residential care home supporting older people.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cook seeking consistent hours and a rewarding role where they can make a real difference to residents' daily lives. The position may particularly suit candidates with previous experience as a Care Home Cook, School Cook, Canteen Cook, Catering Assistant, Kitchen Assistant, Hospital Cook, or Café Cook.

The Role

You will be responsible for preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals for residents while ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook daily meals, snacks, and refreshments for residents.
  • Cater for individual dietary, allergy, and nutritional requirements.
  • Assist with menu planning to provide balanced and varied meals.
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with food ordering and storage.
  • Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organised, and compliant with food safety regulations.
  • Engage positively with residents and contribute to an enjoyable dining experience.

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience in a cooking or catering role.
  • Experience within a care home, school, hospital, canteen, catering, café, restaurant, or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A caring and compassionate approach when working within a residential setting.

Working Pattern

  • 28.5 hours per week.
  • 3 shifts per week.
  • Shift time: 7:30am - 5:30pm.
  • Candidates must be flexible as shifts are worked on a rotational basis, including one weekend on and one weekend off.
