Do you have the technical knowledge to advise customers on concrete technology, combined with the commercial confidence to develop new business?
This is a specialist opportunity based in Stourbridge, offering significant autonomy, responsibility and the opportunity to play a key role in developing business across the UK.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Concrete Technologist who can combine technical expertise with strong relationship-building and business development skills.
This is not a purely technical role and it isn't a traditional sales position.
You'll be responsible for developing customer relationships, identifying new opportunities and providing technical expertise across areas including concrete admixtures, grouts, curing and release agents.
You'll have the freedom to plan your own activity, build your network and develop opportunities across the market.
What you'll be doing
- Take responsibility for the development and modification of concrete recipes and related activities.
- Build and develop a strong network of concrete manufacturers and construction companies.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across relevant industrial sectors.
- Provide technical advice and support on concrete admixtures, grouts, curing and release agents.
- Develop new customers while supporting and growing existing relationships.
- Understand customer requirements and provide appropriate technical and commercial solutions.
- Organise and deliver customer training, presentations and industry events.
- Build long-term relationships with key industry contacts.
- Manage your own priorities and workload, using initiative and making decisions independently.
Essential Requirements
This is a highly specialist role and the following criteria are essential.
You must have:
- A relevant technical or commercial degree/qualification, with training or a qualification in Concrete Technology strongly preferred.
- Proven experience working within the concrete industry and/or distribution of construction products.
- A full, clean driving licence.
- You must currently reside in the UK.
- Strong technical understanding of concrete and related construction products.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A natural ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Strong networking and business development ability.
- A self-motivated, organised and results-driven approach.
- The confidence to work independently and make decisions without constant supervision.
