About the role
We are seeking a Building Inspector to oversee the quality, compliance and delivery of capital works and maintenance projects across a busy healthcare environment.
This position would suit an experienced construction or property professional who enjoys being on-site, working closely with contractors and ensuring building works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You will act as the Client's on-site representative, monitoring construction, refurbishment and maintenance projects while ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, healthcare standards and project specifications. This role may be suitable for candidates from backgrounds such as Senior Building Surveyor, Building Surveyor, Estates Officer, Estates Manager, Property Maintenance Manager, Facilities & Projects Manager, Clerk of Works, Resident Engineer, Site Inspector or Site Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor capital and minor capital projects from commencement through to completion.
- Carry out site inspections to ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and statutory requirements.
- Identify defects, quality issues and non-compliant works at an early stage.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, health departments and project stakeholders.
- Review workmanship, materials and construction standards across building and civil works projects.
- Maintain detailed site records, photographic reports and project documentation.
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular progress reports.
- Monitor health and safety compliance and permit-to-work activities.
- Assist with commissioning, testing and handover processes.
- Support the maintenance and improvement of healthcare facilities while minimising disruption to hospital operations.
About You
You will bring strong technical knowledge, sound judgement and practical experience across building, maintenance, refurbishment or estates environments. You should be comfortable managing competing priorities, engaging with multiple stakeholders and maintaining accurate project records in a live operational setting.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Energy Management, Sustainability or a related discipline OR A recognised trade qualification with substantial relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience within the construction, building maintenance or property sector.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a supervisory, project oversight or contractor management capacity.
- A valid Safe Pass Certificate.
- A full clean driving licence and access to transport.
- Strong understanding of building regulations, construction standards and compliance requirements.
- Experience producing reports and maintaining project records.
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
