At Staffline Recruitment, we are seeking a highly organised, proactive and professional Laboratory Technician to join the Science Department of a well-established, prestigious, values-led secondary school. This is a varied and rewarding role requiring excellent organisational and communication skills, with the opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of practical science education.
The successful candidate will ensure laboratories are fully prepared, stocked and maintained, enabling teachers and students to maximise learning opportunities through practical science.
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Managing laboratory stock levels and ensuring all equipment, chemicals and consumables are available when required.
- Developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships and managing purchasing requirements.
- Ordering, receiving, checking and safely storing laboratory supplies.
- Preparing and setting up equipment, chemicals and resources for practical classes, experiments and projects.
- Maintaining laboratory inventories, safety documentation and equipment records.
- Ensuring the safe storage, handling and disposal of chemicals and laboratory waste.
- Liaising with Science Teachers to coordinate practical work schedules and laboratory requirements.
- Carrying out routine maintenance of laboratories and equipment and coordinating repairs when required.
- Assisting with budget management, invoice processing and expenditure tracking.
- Supporting Science projects, competitions, clubs, field trips and educational visits.
- Ensuring compliance with all health and safety and safeguarding requirements.
Interested Candidates Will Meet the Following Requirements:
- Previous experience in a Laboratory Technician, Science Technician or similar position.
- A qualification in a science-related discipline.
- Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures and chemical handling practices.
- Experience managing stock control and supplier relationships.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Professional, friendly and approachable manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Hours & Benefits
- Salary: €35,000 per annum.
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.
- School holiday schedule aligned with the academic calendar, including Christmas, Easter, mid-term breaks and an extended summer break from end June (after state exams) to mid-August.
