About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to support the delivery of an effective, customer-focused Environmental Health Service.

The successful candidate will undertake enforcement, investigative, educational and advisory duties, contribute to projects and service improvements, and work closely with colleagues, businesses, public bodies and community organisations.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out environmental health enforcement, investigation, education and advisory duties.
• Manage and prioritise your workload to meet agreed targets and deadlines.
• Prepare reports, records and statistical information.
• Support projects and contribute to service improvements.
• Liaise effectively with businesses, members of the public and partner organisations.
• Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge through continuing professional development.
• Support the training and development of students and colleagues where required.
• Provide occasional out-of-hours cover when required.
• Contribute to effective team working and service delivery.

Essential Criteria

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health approved by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), or an acceptable equivalent.
• Registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB) or as a Registered Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP) with CIEH.
• Full, current driving licence valid in Northern Ireland and access to suitable transport for work purposes.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good understanding of environmental health issues.
• Ability to manage and prioritise workloads independently.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good customer service skills.
• Competence using Microsoft Office and relevant IT systems.
