Job description

Job Title: Domestic Assistant

Location: Whitehead

Pay Rate: £12.71

Duration: Ongoing temporary

  • Opportunity to gain supervisory experience within a healthcare environment
  • Carry out a range of floor maintenance duties, including vacuuming and the safe use of buffing and floor-scrubbing machines.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout sanitary and clinical areas.
  • Clean furniture, fixtures and fittings, including routine dusting and both high- and low-level cleaning.
  • Safely remove, clean and rehang bed screens, curtains and other related items as required.
  • Clean walls, windows, glass partitions and other surfaces, including periodic carpet-cleaning duties when required.
  • Collect and dispose of waste appropriately, replacing waste sacks and replenishing essential supplies such as hand towels, soap and toilet rolls.
  • Comply fully with all Trust policies, procedures and instructions relating to Domestic Services, Catering, Health and Safety and infection prevention and control.
  • Complete all assigned cleaning duties in accordance with established cleaning schedules, ensuring that duties are appropriately signed and dated.
  • Follow approved cleaning methods and work schedules when using cleaning equipment and when cleaning different surfaces, floors and areas.
  • Wear all protective clothing and personal protective equipment provided and comply with COSHH, Health and Safety and other relevant statutory requirements at all times.
  • Maintain a professional, respectful and helpful approach when interacting with patients, visitors, colleagues and other Trust staff.
  • Report any hazards, defects, incidents or concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor and take appropriate action in accordance with Trust procedures.

What We're Looking For

You will need:

  • Previous experience working as a Domestic Assistant
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Good knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe working practices
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to lead, support and motivate a team
