Finance Assistant - Approvals & Credit Control

We're delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a Finance Assistant to join their growing finance team based in their Dublin 24 offices.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a varied finance position that combines credit control, customer account approvals and wider finance support. You'll play a key role in managing customer accounts, supporting sound credit decisions and helping maintain strong financial controls across the business.
Working closely with the Financial Controller, Sales teams and Business Managers, you'll enjoy a broad role offering genuine variety, responsibility and the chance to make a real impact.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing the approvals process for new and existing customer accounts.
- Assessing customer applications and financial information to support credit decisions and minimise business risk.
- Monitoring unpaid direct debits and proactively following up outstanding payments.
- Managing debtor collections for non-direct debit customers.
- Approving contract off-hires in line with internal procedures.
- Coordinating equipment collections where required.
- Maintaining legal files relating to aged debt and liaising with relevant parties.
- Producing weekly debtor reports for the Sales team, highlighting overdue and high-risk accounts.
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to resolve account queries and support collections.
- Processing account allocations and maintaining accurate customer records.
- Assisting with bank updates and reconciliations.
- Raising invoices for events and ensuring advance payments are received.
- Supporting month-end reporting and identifying key account issues.
- Providing additional finance and administrative support as required.
Applicants will meet the following requirements:
- Previous experience within credit control, sales ledger or a finance assistant role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial information and identify potential risks.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A confident yet customer-focused approach when managing collections.
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to support the wider finance team.
- Experience using finance systems and Microsoft Excel.
