Location: Carlow (with travel across the Midlands, and occasional visits to Cork and Wexford)

Hours: Full-time (flexibility may be considered)

Pay Rate / Salary: €43,000 - €70,000 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join a multidisciplinary clinical team supporting children and young people in care. This Occupational Therapist role involves delivering trauma-informed Occupational Therapy services across residential settings and clinical environments. The Occupational Therapist position would suit candidates with experience supporting children and young people with complex needs.

Key Duties:

  • Deliver Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions
  • Support care planning and service delivery within a multidisciplinary team
  • Assess occupational performance within daily living environments
  • Apply therapeutic models to support trauma, attachment, and developmental needs
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and training to residential care teams
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, care reviews, and service development
  • Maintain documentation, reporting, and clinical governance standards
  • Build relationships with internal teams and external services including Social Work, CAMHS, Primary Care, and Disability Services

Essential Criteria:

  • Registration or eligibility for registration with CORU as an Occupational Therapist
  • Minimum one year's experience working with children and young people
  • Experience in CAMHS, paediatrics, or mental health settings
  • Understanding of residential or social care environments
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and child development
  • Full driving licence and access to transport
  • Training in sensory integration/attachment or knowledge of DBT, DDP, or relational models of care is desirable
