Night Awake Team Leader
Location: Belfast
Hours: 24 hours per week - 2 × 12-hour night shifts (rota-based, 7-day cover)
Contract: Permanent
Pay Rate: £15.37 per hour
Staffline Recruitment Ireland is recruiting for a Night Awake Team Leader to join a well-established intensive supported living service in Belfast, providing person-centred care to adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.
The Service
The service operates on a 24-hour basis and supports individuals living in their own homes within purpose-built accommodation. Support is delivered using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework, promoting independence, dignity, and inclusion.
The Role
The Night Awake Team Leader is part of the on-site management structure and supports the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in maintaining high standards of care and compliance during night-time hours.
You will lead night staff on shift, ensure care plans and risk assessments are followed, complete night-time checks, and provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the support team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise night staff, acting as a role model at all times
- Ensure person-centred care plans, risk assessments, and support plans are followed
- Maintain accurate digital and written records in line with data protection requirements
- Carry out night security and safety checks
- Advocate for service users, promoting dignity, choice, and wellbeing
- Support, mentor, and develop staff on shift
- Report incidents, concerns, and maintenance issues appropriately
- Work collaboratively with families, care managers, and other professionals
Essential Criteria
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- RQF Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in Health & Social Care or a related discipline, plus at least 2 years' experience in a social care setting (including 6 months supporting behaviours that challenge)
OR - GCSE English and Maths (A*-C or equivalent), plus at least 3 years' experience in a regulated care or support environment (including 6 months supporting behaviours that challenge)
In addition, applicants must have:
- Experience supporting people with learning disabilities
- Good communication skills and confidence using IT/digital care systems
Desirable Criteria
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Adults' Management)
- Experience supervising staff and coordinating care provision
Compliance Requirements
- NISCC registration is required, or willingness to register within 6 months of commencing employment and maintain registration throughout employment
- Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced Access NI check
- Right to work in the UK
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and public holidays on a rota basis
- Ability to meet occupational health and training requirements relevant to the role
