Learning & Development Officer
Location: Belfast - AFBI Headquarters, Newforge Lane
Pay: £37,694 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Flexi available)
Contract: Permanent
The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) is currently recruiting for a Learning & Development Officer to join the People & Culture team within the Finance and Corporate Affairs Division.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping employee development, supporting organisational growth, and driving a high-performance culture within a leading scientific organisation.
The Role
You will lead the delivery of AFBI's Learning & Development (L&D) programme, ensuring staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to support organisational objectives.
Working closely with senior management, you will identify skills gaps, design development initiatives, and promote a strong learning culture across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the organisation-wide Learning & Development programme
- Identify staff development needs and deliver data-driven training solutions
- Oversee onboarding and induction learning programmes
- Ensure compliance with mandatory training and regulatory requirements
- Design and deliver in-house training and coordinate external learning providers
- Provide advice and guidance to managers on development and people policies
- Support staff engagement, wellbeing, and organisational culture initiatives
- Produce reports and insights on learning, engagement, and development metrics
- Support and develop junior team members
Essential Criteria
- Level 5 qualification (or above) and 2 years' HR experience with a strong L&D focus
OR
- Minimum 5 years' HR experience with a strong L&D focus and working towards CIPD
AND
- Experience designing and delivering successful L&D programmes
- Experience building strong relationships with stakeholders, including senior management
- Strong data analysis skills, including proficiency in Excel
