Role: Make Ready Support Worker
Rate of Pay: £12.75
Location: Ballymena
Hours: 22.5-30
Duration: 3 Months
Our client is looking for a motivated individual to contribute to the efficient running of fleet operations and uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Readiness & Maintenance
- Ensure all vehicles are stocked, cleaned, and maintained in a roadworthy condition.
- Carry out Vehicle Daily Inspection (VDI) checks (e.g. lights, wiper blades, fluid levels) and report or arrange repair of defects.
- Drive and move vehicles within and between stations to support cleaning, decontamination, and operational readiness.
- Maintain both interior and exterior vehicle cleanliness in line with agreed standards.
- Cleaning & Infection Control
- Contribute to maintaining high standards of environmental cleanliness within designated work areas.
- Clean and decontaminate vehicles, equipment, and clinical areas in accordance with NIAS policies.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained, functional, and stored appropriately.
- Dispose of general, clinical, and sharps waste safely and in line with policy and procedures.
- Equipment & Stock Management
- Ensure all on-board medical devices and equipment are clean, functional, and in good repair.
- Stock and replenish clinical response bags to agreed levels.
- Monitor and replenish supplies within operational vehicles and stock rooms, ensuring effective stock rotation.
- Report missing or defective equipment and arrange replacement or repair as required.
- Communication & Coordination
- Liaise daily with the Station Officer/Supervisor to support efficient service delivery.
- Report issues, defects, and improvement opportunities promptly.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify areas for improvement in processes, cleanliness, and stock management.
- Promote innovation and contribute to service enhancements where possible.
- General Duties
- Ensure all duties are carried out in compliance with NIAS policies, health & safety regulations, and infection prevention standards.
- Maintain a safe working environment for staff, patients, and the public.
Criteria:
Qualifications & Experience
- 3 GCSEs (including English) plus 1 year's experience, or
- Relevant Level 2 qualification plus 1 year's experience, or
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a service-based role
Other Requirements
- Category C1 driving licence (or working towards it)
- Flexible to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Willing to work across different locations
