Job description

Our client Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council are looking a part time cleaner based at Coleraine Leisure Centre to join their team.

4hrs per day Monday - Friday

7am - 11am

Main Purpose of Post

To work as part of a team ensuring highest standards of cleanliness of a Tier 1 Leisure Centre.

To carry out various general duties which include cleaning, dusting, polishing, hoovering and emptying bins.

To adhere to daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules as directed.

To ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all issues relating to the work of the Council.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out a range of cleaning duties within the leisure facility including, floor cleaning, dusting, polishing, glass cleaning, hoovering, emptying bins, clean windowsills, desks, toilets etc in accordance with current cleaning schedules whilst maintaining highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Carry out a range of outdoor cleansing duties including emptying bins and general litter pick.
  • Liaise with Duty Officer ensuring cleaning stock and materials are up to date and stored away safely.
  • Operate mechanical and electric cleaning machinery and ensure all cleaning activities are conducted in a safe manner ensuring due regard for the Health & Safety of other employees and customers.
  • Comply with COSSH requirements in relation to the use and handling of all cleaning chemicals.
  • Carry out recycling duties in line with Facility management requirements.
  • Report any maintenance that is required to fittings and fixtures to the Duty Officer.
  • Maintain daily contact with Duty Officer regarding cleaning that may need to be required outside of normal cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must, at the closing date for receipt of applications, demonstrate by providing personal and specific examples, that they possess one years experience in

  1. Cleaning in public use building
  2. Dealing with the general public

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities attached to the role to include working with electrical appliances and COSHH regulations.
  • Knowledge of Manual Handling
