Information Governance & Records Assistant

Location: Newforge Lane
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour

About the Role

The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute is seeking an organised and detail-focused Information Governance & Records Assistant to join the Governance and Performance Branch.

This role sits within the Information Governance team and provides frontline support to AFBI staff using Content Manager, AFBI's Electronic Records Management System. The successful candidate will help ensure records are managed effectively, systems remain structured and accessible, and staff are supported in maintaining good information governance practices across the organisation.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line support to AFBI staff using the Content Manager electronic records management system
  • Maintain and organise records structures to reflect business needs and best practice
  • Respond to ServiceDesk requests relating to records and information governance
  • Promote good records management practices among administrative and scientific staff
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Governance & Performance team
  • Assist with the processing and administration of requests under:
  • Freedom of Information Act (FOI)
  • Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)
  • Data Protection Act and GDPR requirements
  • Support business areas in meeting information governance and data protection obligations
  • Undertake routine governance and records management activities as required

Essential Criteria

Applicants must possess:

  • Two GCSEs (Grade A-C)* including Mathematics and English (or equivalent qualification)

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in an administrative support role, including internal or external customer support
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel and Teams
  • Familiarity with an electronic document or records management system, preferably Content Manager (NICS system)
