Financial Accountant (Public Sector)

Staffline Recruitment are seeking a Band 7 Financial Accountant for an immediate start in Derry/L'Derry for our public sector client. This role will be a full time/permanent vacancy until April 2025.

Key Duties:

• Assist the senior accountant in the preparation and submission of the annual statutory accounts in the required time frames.
• Responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of a capital accounting function.
• Take the lead in ensuring that appropriate security, integrity, and contingency arrangements are in place.
• Actively promote high standards in the design and operation of financial accounting systems and procedures and lead on system implementation and quality improvement projects when appropriate.
• The Financial Accountant will be responsible for putting appropriate monitoring arrangements in place across the entire Finance Department to ensure that the setting maintains best practice standards in financial control and governance.
• The Financial Accountant will deputise for the Senior Accountant as and when required.

• Ability to deliver results against challenging financial accounting and reporting agendas.
• Meeting a full range of key targets.
• Effective communication skills.
• Experience working with a range of stakeholders- both internal and external to achieve successful outcomes.
• Ability to show successful people management, leadership and organisational skills.
• Show full membership of one of the five professional accounting institutes within the CCAB or CIMA and a minimum of two years in a senior finance role.
• Full driving license and access to a car.
• Have a working understanding of computerised financial systems.
• IT literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of financial accounting processes and techniques.
• Willingness to undergo an Access NI check.
