My client a leading public sector organisation based in Belfast are currently looking for a CT Radiograpger to join their existing team.

Hours: 37.5 (Must be available to work 08:30-5pm and evenings to 8pm - Mon-Fri) Must be willing to be flexible and available to participate in night duty/shift/on-call/weekend/cross-site working as required.

Pay: £19.10 per hour

Job Summary / Main Purpose

Assist in the provision of the CT service as a core worker, with the requirement to rotate through other imaging modalities within the department as required.

Main Duties / Responsibilities

For each of the following, the postholder will:

  1. Demonstrate and maintain high standards of clinical imaging and personalised patient care with particular reference to CT Imaging.
  2. Participate in the QA programme for the CT service.
  3. Supervise radiographic staff, students and support staff in CT and other areas of the radiography service as required.
  4. Perform general radiographic and specialised imaging duties within the department as required.
  5. Perform and maintain high standards of clinical imaging and personalised patient care in accordance with Imaging and Trust standards.
  6. Responsible for the care, cleanliness and use of the equipment in accordance with department policies. To report and record all environmental defects, equipment faults and incidents to the line manager.
  7. Proactively participate in the department Quality Assurance (QA) programme.
  8. Undertake the duties of the post in accordance with the Trust and department policies including standard operating policies for all imaging protocols, Health and Safety at Work Order (1978), and to act as an IRMER duty holder when required under the guidelines in the Trust's Employer's Procedures.
  9. Ensure that Radiation Protection Rules are applied at all times and to be familiar with and obey Ionising Radiations Regulations (N.I.) 2017 and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (N.I.) 2018 and observe Departmental local rules and protocols concerning ionising radiation.
  10. Communicate effectively with patients, staff and the public including those with specific needs e.g. those with learning difficulties and challenging behaviours.
  11. Help identify training needs and assist in an effective training programme.
  12. Undertake duties on rotation as required by the Radiology Site Lead and Superintendent Radiographers.
  13. Assist in the operational management of the service on a daily basis.
  14. Take responsibility for their own professional development in the role, in accordance with professional CPD requirements, with evidence of an interest of further study.
  15. Participate in the on-call/shift/out-of-hours duty/cross-site working as required.
  16. Participate in weekend working as part of a normal working week as required by the service.
  17. Undertake training for intravenous injections of contrast agents according to the Directorate intravenous injection protocol if required.

Administration

  1. Maintain accurate records of all examinations.
  2. Assist in compiling and reviewing operational policies.
  3. Assist in the daily operational management of the x-ray department as required.
  4. Promote good interpersonal relationships within and between departments through effective communication at all levels.
  5. Supervise radiographic and support staff ensuring that the department quality standards are maintained at all times.

Personnel

  1. Participate in Staff Development review programme for all radiographic staff within the Radiology department. To identify training needs to the Radiology Site Lead.

Educational

  1. Maintain and regularly update individual Continual Professional Development in keeping with the demands of the post.
  2. Participate in multi-disciplinary Clinical Audit.
  3. Assist in the teaching and training of staff involved in the provision of a high quality imaging service.

Undertake mandatory training which will be proved by the client.

Essential Criteria

B.Sc. (Hons) Radiography or DCRR or equivalent qualification in radiographic practice recognised by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

HCPC registration at time of appointment.

Minimum of 2 years post qualification radiographic experience, part of which must be in a hospital with a wide range of modern imaging modalities and in particular CT.

(Diagnostic Radiographers with 2 years post qualification radiography experience on the 1 June 2024 may apply for this waiting list.)

Recognised Post Graduate Diploma / Certificate / modules in CT scanning OR qualification to be achieved within an agreed timeframe of commencement of post (Consideration will be will be given to applicants who are currently enrolled on a recognised CT Post Grad course).

Certificate in IV Cannulation or willingness to train

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Effective Planning & organisational skills with an ability to prioritise workload, working to tight timescales whilst meeting targets and manage a complex workload effectively under pressure.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to use own initiative, to identify solutions to problems and implement them effectively.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Capable of working alone and as part of a team.

Basic computer skills.

Have an excellent understanding of Ionising Radiations Regulations (NI) 2017 and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (NI) 2018 as well as a knowledge of up to date current professional issues.

Committed to Continuous Professional Development and be willing to undertake other training as required.

A clear understanding of Quality Standards and Safe Systems of Work.

Up to date knowledge of current CT imaging professional practice.

Desireable Criteria

CT scanning experience.

Have a keen interest in current trends/ issues/technological developments in CT.

Commitment to professional and academic development.

Organisational ability.
