Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist - Tissue Viability

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist in Tissue Viability to manage our dressing clinic and provide specialist nursing expertise in the care of both inpatient and outpatient patients with complex tissue viability conditions. The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard of patient care and seamless service.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clinical Focus:
  Provide specialist care to patients with tissue viability conditions, utilizing advanced clinical expertise. Manage patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, evaluating outcomes and adjusting care practices as needed. Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of practice.

• Patient Advocacy:
  Advocate for patients' dignity, choices, and well-being, ensuring they receive the best care possible. Represent patient views in multidisciplinary discussions and collaborate with community and primary care services for ongoing support.

• Education and Training:
  Provide clinical leadership and education to nursing staff and patients. Develop training programs and support educational initiatives to promote best practices in tissue viability. Liaise with training departments to ensure the professional development of staff.

• Audit and Research:
  Stay current with the latest developments in tissue viability, conducting audits and evaluating care practices. Participate in research projects to improve methods of care and ensure compliance with quality standards.

• Consultancy:
  Provide expert consultation to the multidisciplinary team on tissue viability management. Standardize referral and communication channels for effective collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Required Qualifications:

• Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible for registration.

• At least 5 years post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting.

• Graduate Diploma or Honours Degree in Tissue Viability at level 9 or equivalent.

• Experience working in a multi-professional environment.

• IT skills are essential.

Desirable:

• Management experience (not essential but advantageous).

All patient and staff-related information must remain confidential and only be disclosed in the performance of duty. Records must be kept securely to prevent unauthorized access.
