Job description

My client a leading public sector organisation based in Belfast are actively seeking a Full-Time Autism Practitioner.

Hours:

  • Full time hours - 30 hours will be considered

Pay: £22.37 per hour

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical

  • To provide specialist diagnostic assessment of persons presenting with social communication, interaction, emotional and behavioural difficulties as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • To participate as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team and to be responsible for the management of a case load.

  • To demonstrate enhanced levels of practice, competence and skills when working with adults, families and carers.

To facilitate a consultation, training and liaison model of service provision for professionals working with service users.

  • To provide supervision to junior colleagues when appropriate.

  • To develop and create resources for Autism Services.

  • To participate as appropriate in the delivery of therapeutic interventions when indicated.

  • To participate in the development of care pathways in conjunction with voluntary and statutory agencies to enhance services provided to service users.

  • To provide written reports as appropriate.

  • To participate in quality improvements, audit and evaluation of practice within the service.

  • To contribute to training of statutory, voluntary and community staff.

  • To collect and collate statistical information which, will form an essential part of the team evidence based practice.

  • To liaise with other disciplines, outside agencies and departments to ensure effective communication, reporting and sharing of information takes place at all times in line with Trust procedures as directed.

  • To participate in relevant service training and attend courses in line with service, team objectives and continued professional development.

  • To provide regular monitoring and evaluation reports as required by line manager.

  • To promote equality of opportunity and good relations as outlined in the Trust's Equality Scheme

  • To be responsible for the allocation of work and prioritisation of work to clerical support staff, in collaboration with the rest of the team.

  • To undertake such other duties commensurate with the post and which from time to time may be revised in the light of developments or needs within the service.

Personal Professional Development

  • To maintain professional standards of conduct as per professional codes of practice.

  • To attend regular peer and/or individual supervision from a practitioner who is deemed competent.

  • To attend regularly for supervision with professional lead.

  • To participate in professional performance review and development in accordance with Trust Policy.

  • To adhere to training requirements of professional body.

Essential Criteria

Significant post-qualifying experience working with adults with mental health difficulties and/ or neuro-diverse conditions.

Knowledge & Experience of assessing adults with Social, Emotional & Behavioural Presentations.

Significant experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Degree level qualification in a relevant Health and Social Care area (e.g. Nursing (Mental Health or Adult), Social Work, Speech and Language Therapist /Occupational Therapist, with live registration with their respective professional body if appropriate.

Hold current Full Driving licence valid in the UK with access to a car. This criteria will be waived in the case of an applicant whose disability prohibits driving but who is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements.

An ability to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines.

Ability to provide, process and receive highly complex, sensitive information in a range of relationships and settings.

An ability to interact and communicate with adults and carers.

An ability to communicate effectively.

Planning and Organisation Skills:

Able to plan, organise own workload independently and be accountable for use of time.

An interest in the area of Autism, Mental Health and neurodiversity.

Able to be flexible and adapt approach according to need and to innovate on the basis of theoretical knowledge.

Ability to accept and use supervision appropriately and effectively.
