Rate: £19.32 per hour
Contract: 12 October 2026 - 12 January 2027
Overview
Staffline is recruiting on behalf of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive for an Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Development team within FBP Asset Management.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering day-to-day management accounting, budgetary control and financial reporting requirements for a Division within NIHE.
Key duties:
- Supporting day-to-day management accounting and financial reporting
- Budget setting, forecasting, monitoring and expenditure reporting
- Investigating budget variances and providing recommendations for corrective action
- Preparing detailed management reports and financial analysis for senior managers and budget holders
- Using integrated financial management systems, reporting tools and advanced spreadsheets
- Identifying and implementing business process improvements within the finance environment
- Ensuring financial information is accurate and delivered within required deadlines
Essential Criteria:
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail
- Intermediate IT proficiency
- At least 2 years' experience in at least 3 of the following 4 areas:
- Budget setting, forecasting, monitoring and reporting of expenditure
- Financial analysis, management reporting, investigation of budget variances and corrective action
- Use of an integrated financial management system, linked reporting tools and advanced spreadsheet skills
- Identification and implementation of business process improvements within a finance environment
Professional Qualification Requirements:
Applicants must possess one of the following:
- Final examinations of AAT or IATI
- Foundation papers of a CCAB body (or equivalent)
- Relevant Bachelor's degree where accounting is the major component, or equivalent qualification
