Community Transition Service | Belfast
Salary: £28,040 per annum
Contract: Fixed Term until December 2028 (with potential extension subject to funding)
Hours: 35 hours per week, varied shifts
Location: Nelson Street, Belfast, with travel required
Staffline Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client, for a Community Housing & Support Officer to join their innovative Community Transition Service.
This is a unique opportunity to support women transitioning from custody into the community through a housing-led, trauma-informed approach. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing dispersed accommodation and supporting participants to achieve stability, reduce the risk of reoffending, and successfully comply with bail conditions.
About the Role
You will support individuals during a critical period of transition from custody to community living. The role combines property management responsibilities with intensive participant support, helping to provide a credible alternative to remand while promoting positive outcomes for participants.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain dispersed accommodation properties
- Liaise with housing partners to identify and prepare suitable accommodation for participants.
- Conduct property inspections and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Complete participant inductions and licence agreements.
- Support individuals during the transition from custody to accommodation, including providing transport where appropriate.
- Assist participants to access benefits, services and community supports.
- Build positive working relationships with PBNI, PSNI and other partner organisations.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, domestic abuse, substance misuse and other risks.
- Promote tenancy sustainment, community integration and compliance with bail conditions.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota system.
Essential Criteria
- Experience working within supported housing, homelessness services, social care, criminal justice or a related field.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and person-centred approaches.
- Understanding of tenancy management and housing-related legislation.
- Experience assessing and managing risk within a support setting.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use
- Active NISCC registration or willingness to obtain registration within the required timescale.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rota.
