Salary: £13.62 per hour
Hours: 20 hours per week

Northern Regional College (NRC) is currently recruiting for a Classroom Support Worker at its Coleraine Campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and classroom support to students with additional learning needs.
  • Assist students with accessing lessons, learning resources, college facilities and activities.
  • Provide support with notetaking, examination scribing and other learning requirements.
  • Provide personal care and mobility support where required.
  • Assist students with accessing and safely evacuating College buildings.
  • Support students during breaks and other activities as required.
  • Respond appropriately when students are unwell and follow College procedures.
  • Assist with first aid procedures when required.
  • Support lecturers and Curriculum Teams in delivering an inclusive learning environment.
  • Act as an advocate for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Maintain accurate student records and ensure confidentiality at all times.
  • Follow College policies, procedures, safeguarding requirements and standards of professional conduct.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide a consistent and equitable support service across all campuses.
  • Provide cover for other support staff when required.
  • Participate in staff development, training and performance reviews.
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of Inclusive Learning services.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and undertake other reasonable duties consistent with the role.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, such as Education or Care; or

  • At least 12 months' relevant experience in one or more of the following:
    • Providing one-to-one support to young people or adults in a further or higher education setting.
    • Providing one-to-one support to young people or adults in a school setting.
    • Supporting individuals with disabilities and/or additional barriers to learning.
    • Delivering study skills within an education or training environment.
