SCIENTIFIC OFFICER - DAIRY TECHNICIAN
Location: Hillsborough
Hours: 37hrs per week, working 5 days out of 7 and will include weekends and
unsocial hours
Duration: temporary 6 to 12 months
Pay: £17.43 per hour

Sponsored by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), AFBI provides evidence-based research and monitoring that informs government policy and promotes sustainability in Northern Ireland and beyond.
Purpose of the Role:
To undertake technical work within the dairy team.
Key Duties:
Overseeing feeding duties, sampling, sample management, instructing staff, data management.
Essential Criteria:
- Two A Levels or equivalent - one in a Science discipline, equivalent or higher
AND
- Two years' demonstrable experience of working with and handling ruminant livestock (or one years' demonstrable experience of working with and handling ruminant livestock within a research farm setting).
- Excellent IT skills
- Broad range of technical skills including managing day-to day feeding of experimental livestock, feed sample preparation, data collection, and data summation.
Where the applicant does not meet the qualifications stated in 1 above, they must have Three years' demonstrable experience of working with and handling cattle
