Rate: £19.32 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Contract: Temporary - 19 October 2026 to 19 January 2027

The Role

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive is seeking an experienced Technical Inspector to join the Asset Strategy Management - Governance & Administration team.

The successful candidate will use their technical construction knowledge and experience to carry out inspections, assess compliance and support the effective management and delivery of construction-related work within a housing environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Carrying out construction site inspections to evaluate compliance with building regulations and prescribed technical standards.
• Applying significant knowledge of construction legislation, statutory regulations, building standards, specifications, details and related documentation.
• Assessing construction work within a housing environment and identifying areas requiring attention.
• Working with and assessing NEC Contracts, including whether contracts have been managed and delivered in accordance with contract conditions.
• Communicating complex technical issues to senior management and key stakeholders.
• Preparing detailed written reports and communicating findings clearly.
• Resolving complex problems and disputes using sound judgement and decision-making.
• Working effectively to exacting deadlines while maintaining technical standards.

Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following essential qualification and experience routes:

• Bachelor's Degree / equivalent Level 6 qualification in Architecture, Construction Project Management, Building Surveying or a relevant Building-related discipline plus at least 2 years' experience in a Building Construction-related environment; OR
• BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma or equivalent in a relevant Building-related discipline plus at least 3 years' experience in a Building Construction-related environment; OR
• Demonstrable equivalent continuing professional development or experiential learning plus at least 5 years' experience in a Building Construction-related environment.

You will also need:

• 5+ years' relevant experience where applicable to the qualification route.
• Advanced IT proficiency.
• Significant knowledge of construction legislation, statutory regulations and building standards.
• Experience carrying out construction site inspections.
• Working knowledge of NEC Contracts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to resolve complex problems and disputes and make sound judgements under tight deadlines.
• Current driving licence or access to transport that enables you to meet the requirements of the post in full.
• Basic AccessNI check required.
