Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a highly skilled engineering team working on complex, large-scale automation systems.

This is a key technical role where you will take ownership of mechanical design projects from initial concept through to final commissioning and validation. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, customers and external suppliers to deliver innovative and high-quality automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of complex automation equipment using SolidWorks within a PDM environment.
• Develop solutions incorporating robotics, servo systems, pneumatics, transfer systems, vision systems and machine guarding.
• Act as a technical lead across projects, supporting design reviews and project delivery.
• Produce detailed 2D manufacturing and part drawings.
• Manage material selection and liaise with machine shops and suppliers on bespoke components.
• Support project risk assessments and ensure designs meet relevant CE marking and regulatory requirements.
• Develop functional designs from customer User Requirement Specifications (URS).
• Support projects through IQ, OQ and PQ validation stages.
• Pneumatic circuit design experience would be highly desirable.
• Provide hands-on technical support with troubleshooting and assembly on the production floor when required.
• Mentor and support junior members of the engineering team.

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years' experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Strong experience with SolidWorks.
• Experience designing complex machinery or automation systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative engineering solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
• Good understanding of project requirements, budgets and timelines.
• Experience with CE marking and technical documentation would be advantageous.
• Pneumatic design experience is highly desirable.
• Full driving licence essential.
• Candidates must be currently living in Ireland and hold full working rights/work permit.

Graduate / Junior Opportunity

We are also interested in hearing from Graduate Mechanical Design Engineers with relevant experience, with salaries starting from €45,000+, depending on experience and suitability for the role.

Working Hours

Monday - Thursday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
Friday: 8:30am - 4:00pm
