Transport Planner

Our client, a leading expert in Irish, UK, and European haulage with specialisation in container transport and warehousing, is seeking a skilled Transport Planner. This role is essential for coordinating the transport of goods, optimising routes, and ensuring timely deliveries. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of performing in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Route Planning and Coordination: Develop, plan, and manage efficient transport routes for articulated vehicles, prioritising cost-effective and timely delivery.
• Fleet Management: Oversee vehicle fleets to maximise utilisation, monitoring performance to drive operational efficiency.
• Process Optimisation: Collaborate closely with internal teams to streamline transportation operations, enhancing service quality.
• Communication: Serve as a key contact, communicating with drivers and external partners to confirm on-schedule deliveries and resolve any in-transit issues.
• Data Analysis: Regularly analyse transport data to identify areas for improvement in route efficiency and cost management.
• Cross Departmental Support: A hands on approach to support with adhoc tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Proven background in route planning, particularly nationwide, with a track record of optimising transport schedules and routes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to make data driven route adjustments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination across departments and with external stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment.
• Background in goods handling (desirable)
