Location: Galway

THE ROLE!!!

The purpose of this job is to conduct a wide range of designated social work duties, in accordance with policies and procedures as set out by the social care organisation, and to work as part of the Social Work Team.

REPORTING TO: Service Manager

CONSULT WITH: Residents and Staff in Adults/Children's Services, Multidisciplinary Team, and Parents & Families.

LOCATION: Adult & Children Designated centres in accordance with the rosters operated by the service in Galway

Key Duties:

  • To be responsible, subject to the general direction and control of the Head of Social Work, for social work duties associated with the services provided by service provider.
  • To provide a Social Work service to individuals and families who use service provider's services.
  • To act as Person in Charge in the absence of the Service Manager.
  • To consult with team members, Respite and Community Services Manager, Home Sharing Co-ordinator, and other relevant service provider's staff.
  • To promote service innovation in accordance with best practice.
  • To work as part of a number of inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary teams to promote the best interests of service users and their families.
  • To keep such records and submit such reports as requested by the Head of Social Work.
  • Maintain up to date records of all contacts and meetings.
  • To perform such other duties, appropriate to the post as assigned by the Head of Social Work.

Essential Criteria:

  • A professional degree (minimum level 7) in Applied Social Care.
  • Fully registered and is appearing on the CORU registered list of Social Care Worker to work in Ireland.
  • Full current driving license with access to your own vehicle as this role will require moving to different designated centre sites.
  • Previous experience working with people with an intellectual disability or a similar field.
  • Proven clinical competence and enthusiastic about delivering outstanding care to people with disabilities.
  • Excellent Leadership, Organisational and Communication skills.
