Job description
Title of Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Dublin
Pay: €83,272 - €103,925
Principal Duties
- Planning and Management: Organizing, managing, coordinating, and monitoring work programs as per the business plan.
- Quantity Surveying Services: Providing and monitoring services for various construction projects, including renovations and new constructions.
- Project Appraisals and Budgeting: Checking project appraisals, participating in value engineering, determining budget costs, and reviewing cost plans.
- Procurement and Contracts: Offering guidance on procurement and contracts in line with the Capital Works Management Framework.
- Team Collaboration: Working with an in-house multi-disciplinary team and conducting interim checks during projects.
- Final Accounts: Assessing final accounts and resolving issues arising from the final account process.
- Post-Contract Advice: Providing advice on post-contract matters, including dispute resolution.
- Construction Cost Advice: Offering advice on general construction cost-related matters.
- Industry Trends and Innovations: Researching and advising on current industry trends and innovations.
- Policy Formulation: Formulating and adapting policies to comply with Government and EU directives, building regulations, and codes of practice.
- Project Evaluation: Assisting in developing mechanisms for evaluating and prioritizing projects.
- Staff Management: Managing and developing staff if assigned.
- Site Inspections: Visiting and inspecting sites to evaluate progress, quality of works, and completed projects.
- Additional Duties: Representing the department at seminars, participating in meetings with stakeholders, and other duties as assigned.
Training
On-the-job training is provided/encouraged. Facilities are also provided for attendance at courses, conferences, etc., relating to the role.
Requirements
- Must have right to work in Ireland
- University degree in Quantity Surveying (Level 8 on NFQ).
- Minimum of five years of practical experience, with at least three years at a senior level on significant projects.
- Eligible for inclusion on the Quantity Surveyors register (Building Control Act 2007).
- High standard of technological training and IT software familiarity.
- Knowledge of European and National procurement rules, Capital Works Management Framework, and Public Works Contracts.
- Strategic approach to policy objectives.
- Project cost assessment and analysis.
- Conducting inquiries and reporting accurately.
- Working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
- Fostering positive relationships and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
- Liaising with senior personnel and representing national positions internationally.
Desirable Requirements:
- Professional Membership: Chartered Membership of SCSI or RICS.
- Cost Data: Experience with cost data production and utilization.
- Public Administration: Knowledge or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of public administration in Ireland.
- Additional Education: Level 9 qualification in construction or construction management.
