My client a leading public sector organisation based in Belfast are currently looking for a full-time Senior Health Intelligence Manager.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

Pay: £30.16ph

JOB SUMMARY

The post holder will lead on the continuing provision and development of the health Intelligence function with the Public Health Agency. They will lead on specific project and represent the Public Health Agency in a variety of fori (local and national) across a wide range of stakeholders. They will manage the health intelligence team to support the Public Health Agency and promoting the use of evidence, evaluating specific interventions or campaigns and assisting the wider understanding of the health needs of the population to address health inequalities and determine priorities for action. He/she will be a highly self-motivated individual with the ability to work collaboratively at many levels both within the Public health Agency and with other HSC organisations and the wider research field.

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Public health Development and Professional leadership 1.1 Provide expert advice to local and national bodies on the availability and comparability of information for Northern Ireland. This includes things such as liaising JOB TITLE Senior Health Intelligence Manager BAND DIRECTORATE INITIAL LOCATION 8B Communications and Knowledge Management Linum Chambers REPORTS TO Assistant Director Communications and Knowledge Management ACCOUNTABLE TO Director of Operations and acting Deputy Chief Executive 3 | P a g e the National Expert Working Group on Optimising Data on Medicines Used in Pregnancy on maternity data in Northern Ireland. 1.2 Represent the Public Health Agency on the HSC Strategic Information Group and the Information Standards Board, the UK Health intelligence network and a range of other local and national bodies leading on local and national long term strategy and policy development. 1.3 Act as the lead official within the Public H and liaise with NISRA and DoH regarding such according to the code of practice. 1.4 Chair the NINIS Making Life Better co-ordination group including departmental officials and NISRA staff to improve access to public health data in Northern Ireland and chair various ad hoc groups as required.

Essential Criteria

1a. A postgraduate qualification related to research or information or a research based postgraduate qualification AND worked for at least 3 years in a senior information management or research role* in a major complex organisation** Shortlisting by Application Form 8 | P a g e OR 1b. Worked for at least 5 years in a senior information management or research role* in a major complex organisation** * Senior role is define as having responsibility for the planning, management and commissioning of research and evaluation based programmes, obtaining, analysing and presenting data and other information and providing expert professional advice around research and critical appraisal matters. ** Major complex organization is defined as one with at least 200 staff or an annual budget of at least £50 million and involving having to meet a wide range of objectives requiring a high degree of co-ordination with a range of stakeholders. Other 2. Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by The Organisation which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.

Demonstrate practical experience of complex statistical analysis and data management. Have the ability to critically appraise relevant research , policies and evaluations to identify implications for health service and wider public health planning. Ability to communicate complex information in writing and orally, in both large formal and smaller informal settings and to different audiences including professional staff and the public. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, plan and manage own workload and plan work in advance to meet deadlines. Demonstrate experience in collaborative working with senior officials across organisations. Direct experience of staff management Interview / Test 9 | P a g e Knowledge Have highly developed knowledge and experience of research methodologies and practice. Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of current public health issues and the role and contribution of research and information in relation to these.

Desireable Criteria

Masters in Public health / Health Informatics / Statistics 2. PHd in health related topic.
