Job Title: Registered General Nurse (RGN) - High Dependency Unit (HDU)
Location: Dublin, Ireland

Reports to: Clinical Nurse Manager, Director of Nursing
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Registered General Nurse (RGN) to join our High Dependency Unit (HDU) team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute hospital setting. The role requires expertise in clinical assessment, emergency response, and the use of advanced medical equipment.
Qualifications & Experience:
Each candidate must:
Be registered on the General Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Have at least three years of post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
Have an interest in procedural nursing and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Have strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrate fluency in the English language (written and spoken).
Desirable:
Postgraduate qualification in a nursing speciality.
Experience working in a High Dependency Unit (HDU) or Critical Care Unit (CCU).
Ability to manage clinical and non-clinical situations effectively.
Strong ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
Experience in risk management and patient safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs.
Work collaboratively with consultants, medical staff, and allied health professionals.
Monitor and manage patient deterioration, escalating concerns promptly using ISBAR communication.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Operate and maintain critical care equipment, including:
Infusion pumps, syringe drivers, bedside monitors, telemetry, ABG machines, blood warmers, and ventilators.
Perform arterial blood gas analysis and interpret results.
Provide emergency care and respond to critical situations within the unit.
Maintain accurate patient documentation in compliance with hospital policies and NMBI guidelines.
Adhere to infection prevention and control policies.
Support and mentor junior nursing staff and students.
Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) and attend statutory training in CPR, manual handling, infection control, and fire safety.

Document patient care accurately and in a legally compliant manner.
4. Leadership & Quality Improvement:
Contribute to hospital-wide quality initiatives.
Supervise and delegate nursing tasks appropriately.
