Position Title: Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2)
Department: Oncology Day Unit
Location: Dublin, County Dublin
Reports To: Head of Cancer Services


About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) to take the lead in our Oncology Day Unit. In this key position, you will oversee the delivery of outstanding patient care, while ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the unit. Your role will involve leading a dedicated team, ensuring clinical excellence, and driving continuous improvements within the Cancer Service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Development: Provide strategic leadership to nursing staff, ensuring delivery of patient care that is compassionate, competent, and efficient. You will be responsible for recruiting, developing, and retaining skilled professionals, fostering a collaborative environment where staff feel supported and motivated.

  • Operational Efficiency: Monitor and manage the day-to-day running of the unit, ensuring the effective allocation of resources and optimal patient care. You will also be responsible for managing the unit's budget, controlling expenditures, and improving staffing efficiency to enhance productivity.

  • Quality Improvement: Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to drive continuous improvement in patient care and safety. Participate in risk management activities, quality audits, and other initiatives to ensure best practices are followed.

  • Patient Care Excellence: You will play an integral role in upholding the highest standards of patient care by setting clear guidelines and participating in key projects such as ChemoCare and other cancer service initiatives.

  • Professional Growth & Education: Lead by example in promoting professional development. You will be responsible for mentoring new staff, overseeing education programs, and ensuring the ongoing learning of both yourself and your team.


Clinical Duties:

  • Follow and implement the Professional Scope of Practice Framework (NMBI 2015).

  • Participate in hospital-wide quality improvement processes to ensure that patient care aligns with best practices and regulatory standards.

  • Contribute to cancer service projects and initiatives aimed at improving care delivery, such as the implementation of new services.


What We're Looking For:

Qualifications:

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with NMBI.

  • Postgraduate qualification in Oncology Nursing is essential.

  • A post-graduate qualification in management is highly desirable.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of clinical experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a management position.

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working within an oncology day unit.

  • Proven track record in implementing new services and optimizing care delivery.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead teams, motivate staff, and foster collaboration.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to think critically and problem-solve in high-pressure situations.

  • Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of oncology nursing practices, national strategies, and developments in healthcare.

  • Compassionate and empathetic, with the ability to build strong, respectful relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

  • Flexible and adaptable, able to meet changing demands and contribute to the success of the unit.
