Temporary 1 year (Fulltime)

The Client: Our client based in Newry are now recruiting for a temporary Fitter for 1 year.

The Role: You will maintain and repair all mechanical aspects of a vehicle, carry out vehicle inspections and associated administrative duties.

Responsibilities:

The following reflects typical duties and is not intended to be a comprehensive description of all tasks:

• Inspect, service, maintain and prepare the fleet to PCV standards
• Test, diagnose faults and rectify defects on vehicle systems as appropriate
• Remove and replace vehicle components
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns
• Complete administrative duties associated with the post
• Other appropriate duties

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 year's post apprenticeship experience in a similar role within an automotive environment
• Recognised Vehicle Apprenticeship with minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant trade or discipline
• Awareness and understanding of customer needs
• Diagnostic ability where applicable
• Ability to produce sound & safe work
• Awareness of and compliance with Health & Safety at work
• Working knowledge of vehicle systems e.g. diesel engine and fuel systems etc.
• Able to work with others and with minimal supervision.
• Full current driving licence
• Flexible attitude to work and working hours with ability to work additional hours when required or at short notice
• Available for call out
• Willing to obtain a PCV licence
• Able to satisfy such medical standards as may apply to the post

Desirable:

• Experience in a similar role working on commercial vehicles
• Relevant engineering experience on buses and/or coaches
• Understanding of vehicle electrical systems and body structure
• Experience of using IT packages
• Possess large vehicle license preferably a PVC license

Hours of work: Fulltime (37hrs per week)

Salary: £31,726.76 per annum
