Equipment Engineer

Operating Principles

The Equipment Engineer will work directly with the Maintenance Manager to build a reliable CMMS system and plan & deliver maintenance projects across the HQ site. The Engineers focus will be making the upcoming weeks and months a success by ensuring all relevant works is carried out and completed utilising all staff, contractors, and methods to complete same. Measures of success will be 'time to repair from the second the equipment stopped to the second after it was recommissioned, evaluated and proven stable in-service'. Other measures include 'how long each piece of equipment ran at full design capability after planned maintenance was done' and 'number of planned jobs verses the total number of jobs' in a week or month.

Job Purpose

The Equipment Engineer is responsible for assisting with the development of reliability-based maintenance strategy based on preventative and predictive maintenance. The position requires hands on maintenance experience and will be utilised when and if needed. The equipment Engineer will be required to be on call as per the on-call procedure during an agreed time slot. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

  • Prioritise plant works schedule in accordance with asset reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Scope the full extent of all maintenance works required to conduct the relevant repair/preventive / predictive / design-out activities on the organisations plant and equipment.
  • Maximizing equipment reliability through using planned maintenance most effectively.
  • Quickly returning equipment to design capability through using planned maintenance most effectively.
  • Maximizing equipment availability through most effectively using planned maintenance.
  • Develop cost and time-based estimates of planned maintenance work, including overtime, contractor, and component costs.
  • Write applicable maintenance procedures that promote defect-free maintenance work quality whilst incorporating a clear EHS mode into work practise.
  • Responsible for up-keep and accuracy of technical information on processes, plant, and equipment.
  • Able and competent in root cause failure analysis leadership and investigations.
  • Schedule maintenance work into the plant production plans.
  • Schedule planned maintenance shutdowns on a weekly/annual basis.
  • Ensure KPI's are captured and reported for equipment reliability, maintenance department performance and planning and scheduling business flow process.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule manpower and resources for the most effective production and maintenance outcomes.
  • Participates in WCM processes and projects & own the Reliability pillar board.
  • Ensure all team compliance training is up to date.
  • Ensure adherence to all EHS activities.

Working Environment

The Equipment Engineer will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. The Equipment Engineer must work closely with the relative board and plaster managers to ensure asset management and maintenance along with production is prioritised to suit business needs. The Equipment Engineer must plan scheduled work in conjunction with the QPC manager's factory trial plan. The Equipment Engineer must communicate effectively with the production scheduler to ensure planned maintenance is in accordance with both the maintenance plan and production plan. The Equipment Engineer has direct contact with the Engineering manager to facilitate all capex and projects work into the plant maintenance planning system.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

Qualifications required to fulfil the role.

  1. Qualification in an Engineering Discipline to degree level or willing to complete same.
  2. Strong ICT skills (particularly Microsoft Office),
  3. Knowledge of CMMS. (PEMAC)
  4. Trade qualification (Fitter)

Specific work experience required to fulfil the role.

  • Minimum 3 years engineering experience in a high-volume heavy manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Experience of managing a diverse portfolio of operational responsibilities.
  • Proven track record of successful Project Management.
  • Experience in the operation of a gypsum plaster mill and/or board plant would be an advantage.
  • Excellent data analysis skills, enthusiastic and hands-on attitude.
  • Ability to write detailed repair reports and good verbal communication.
  • Strong presentation skills, coupled with ability to lead a large group of people.
