Health and Safety Officer

Staffline Recruitment Ireland is currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join a well-established and growing retail organisation. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for supporting and maintaining high health and safety standards across a network of warehouses and retail stores throughout Ireland. While the company is based in Galway, the role involves regular travel to different locations.

Our client is a well-established Irish retail organisation with a strong presence across the country, operating a growing network of retail stores and warehouse facilities. The business is customer-focused and continues to expand, with a strong emphasis on quality, service and operational standards. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation and play an important role in maintaining and developing high health and safety standards across its sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and maintenance of health and safety policies, procedures and standards across warehouses and retail locations.
• Carry out regular site inspections, risk assessments and safety audits, identifying potential hazards and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
• Provide practical health and safety advice and guidance to managers and employees across the business.
• Assist with incident, accident and near-miss investigations, ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are implemented.
• Support health and safety training, inductions and awareness initiatives across the organisation.
• Maintain accurate health and safety records and ensure relevant documentation is kept up to date.
• Work closely with management to identify opportunities to improve health and safety practices and promote a strong safety culture.
• Travel to warehouses and retail locations as required to provide on-site support.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Health & Safety Officer or similar health and safety role.
• Relevant Health & Safety qualification;
• Experience carrying out risk assessments, inspections, audits and incident investigations;
• Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and workplace safety requirements;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with employees and management at all levels;
• Highly organised, proactive and practical approach to health and safety;
• Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to different sites across Ireland.

What's on Offer

• Salary of €50,000 - €55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
• Company car or mileage allowance.

• Majority of the role based in Galway, with travel required to other locations.
