About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and practical Parks Operative to support the maintenance and upkeep of parks, open spaces and associated facilities.
You will carry out a range of grounds maintenance and horticultural duties, operate vehicles and equipment safely, and help ensure public areas are maintained to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Grass cutting, edging, hedge trimming, pruning and general grounds maintenance.
- Planting, turf maintenance, seed sowing and other horticultural activities.
- Using powered hand tools, machinery and light plant safely.
- Operating and maintaining allocated vehicles and trailers.
- Maintaining sports areas, fine turf, parks and public spaces.
- Litter picking and removal of rubbish and hazardous materials.
- Assisting with playground, park furniture and facility inspections.
- Reporting defects, hazards, incidents and maintenance issues.
- Working with colleagues, community groups, volunteers and members of the public.
- Completing relevant records and paperwork.
- Following health and safety requirements and organisational procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Full, current C1+E driving licence.
- At least 1 year's relevant experience in:
- Gardening and horticultural duties.
- Using powered hand tools and equipment safely.
- Dealing directly with members of the public.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
Please note: Eligible applicants will be required to successfully complete a driving assessment for vehicles associated with the C1+E licence as part of the selection process.
