Neighbourhood Officer - NIHE (Belfast)

Employer: Northern Ireland Housing Executive
Location: Housing Centre, Belfast
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm)
Pay Rate: £13.69 per hour
Contract: Temporary - 31/08/2026 to 30/11/2026

Overview

Staffline is recruiting on behalf of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive for a Neighbourhood Officer to join the Belfast North Area Team.

The successful candidate will provide a high level of internal and external customer service, taking ownership of customer queries and complaints and ensuring issues are followed through to completion. The role will also involve working closely with internal teams, customers and external agencies to support effective service delivery.

Key Duties

  • Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Take ownership of customer queries and complaints, ensuring issues are followed through to completion.
  • Escalate issues to senior management where required.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with customers and other agencies to support continuous service improvement.
  • Represent the Area Team and provide support and cover for other team members as required.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate working groups, committees and internal forums.
  • Ensure compliance with NIHE policies, procedures and relevant legal requirements, including equality, health & safety and information governance.
  • Direct and signpost managers and officers to appropriate sources of advice where issues fall outside the remit of the role.
  • Manage own performance and remain flexible and responsive to change.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties in line with the nature, responsibilities and grade of the post.

Essential Criteria

  • Intermediate level IT proficiency.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Flexible and responsive approach to changing priorities.
  • Less than 1 year's experience required.

Working Arrangements

The role is based at the Housing Centre in Belfast, with agile working arrangements and lone-working responsibilities.

A lone-worker device will be provided.

Access NI: Basic clearance required
Holiday Entitlement: 23 days + 12 public holidays
